Sanskrit Name: आम, आमावस्था
A temporary condition of the body in which digestive and metabolic functions halt, preventing further conversion into final products, by-products, or waste. This cessation results in various bodily changes, including blocked channels, excessive secretions, abnormal waste accumulation, and a slowdown in movement and catabolic activities. Common symptoms include fatigue, a sensation of heaviness, lethargy, altered taste perception, and tiredness without any physical or mental effort. The ama phase is an initial stage of nearly all health issues, such as fever or diarrhea, which occurs due to the disruption of internal factors: dosha, essential structural elements, and waste products. From a physiological perspective, the ama phase signifies the early digestion of food in the stomach.
Alternate Name(s): Ama, a state of incomplete digestion, transformation or metabolism
