Ayurvedic Name: Romantika
Description:
Romantika is a skin condition similar to urticaria or hives, characterized by red, itchy rashes. It is resulting from an imbalance in Pitta and Kapha doshas, often due to allergies or indigestion. Cooling herbs like neem, turmeric, and Guduchi help in managing the condition.
Signs & Symptoms:
Romantika (Urticaria) manifests with symptoms such as Pruritus (Itching), intense itching caused by raised hives, and Erythema (Redness), with red or pink patches appearing suddenly on the skin. Swelling (Angioedema) may occur, especially around the eyes, lips, and throat. The skin may show Rash (Shweta Pidika), raised, blotchy patches that change shape or location rapidly. Rukshata (Dryness) may be noticed, leading to a dry sensation on the affected skin, while Daha (Burning) is often present due to inflammation. In Ayurveda, this condition is attributed to an imbalance of Pitta dosha, causing heat and inflammation in the body, leading to aggravation of Rakta (blood) and Mamsa (muscle) tissues. Ama (toxins) accumulation due to digestive weakness may also contribute to the symptoms.
Diagnosis:
Skin prick test
Risk Factors:
Dietary factors: Excessive consumption of spicy, hot, or fermented foods can contribute to hormonal imbalances, leading to Romantika (romantic obsession). A diet low in nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants can also impact mental health, causing attachment or emotional imbalance. Lifestyle factors: Obsessive thinking, emotional instability, and lack of proper sleep can exacerbate romantic infatuations. High levels of emotional stress or insecurity can worsen obsessive behavior and attachment.
Complications:
Romantic Obsession (Romantika) – Unhealthy attachment to a partner or unrealistic expectations in relationships. Emotional Imbalance (Raga) – Excessive emotional attachment or fixation that disrupts mental health. Anxiety (Chinta) – Constant worrying or insecurity about the relationship affecting mental well-being.
Epidemeology:
Romantika (Romantic Obsession) is characterized by excessive attachment or unhealthy fixation on a romantic partner, often leading to emotional instability. This condition is more prevalent in individuals with underlying anxiety or attachment disorders. Social isolation, low self-esteem, and previous traumatic relationships can contribute to the development of romantic obsession.
