Description:

Abhayarishta, or Abhayarishtam, is an Ayurvedic formulation utilized for addressing issues such as constipation, anorexia, piles, and anal fistula. It includes ingredients like Haritaki, which are recognized for their benefits in digestive disorders.

In Ayurvedic practice, Abhayarishta is noted for its Rechana (laxative) effect, aiding in alleviating constipation and alleviating symptoms of anal fistula. Additionally, it possesses Vata balancing characteristics that enhance digestive fire, which can assist in managing piles. It also has Deepan (appetizer) and Pachan (digestive) qualities that are beneficial for conditions like anorexia, excessive thirst, bloating, and gas.

For relief from constipation, it is recommended to take 15-20 ml of Abhayarishta or as prescribed by a healthcare provider. It can be mixed with an equal volume of lukewarm water to make it more palatable. The dosage can be taken once or twice daily, ideally after meals, or before bedtime for quicker relief.

Abhayarishta is typically well tolerated, with minimal side effects when consumed as directed. Nonetheless, consulting a healthcare professional before starting Abhayarishta is recommended.

  • Abhyarishta should generally be avoided in individuals who are prone to excessive heat or have conditions that cause inflammation, such as acute gastritis, ulcers, or conditions with an overproduction of bile.
  • It may not be suitable for those with severe liver conditions or jaundice, as it stimulates bile production.
