Among these, Padmaka stands out as a remarkable ayurvedic plant, utilized since ancient times for its numerous health benefits. This plant, part of the Rosaceae family, is included in various herbal formulations due to its beneficial properties. Ayurveda endorses Padmaka for its ability to manage numerous skin issues, enhancing skin brightness and radiance.

Padmaka is a medium to tall plant that thrives in the wilds of the Himalayas and is known by various names across different languages: Bird cherry and wild Himalayan cherry in English, Padmaka in Hindi, Padmak in Malayalam, and Padmkashtha in Gujarati. It is particularly noted in the Rosaceae family for its fragrance, reminiscent of the lotus. Additionally, it has several notable synonyms such as suprabha, meaning “very attractive in appearance,” and Hemavarnaka or Peeta rakta, which refer to its reddish-yellow or golden hues.

Benefits:

  • Papita (Carica papaya), or papaya, is recognized in Ayurveda for its digestive, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying qualities.
  • It improves Agni, supports liver health, and relieves constipation.
  • Papaya latex is also used for treating skin growths and promoting wound healing.
