Sanskrit Name:Gṛḥadhūmādi

Devanagari Name:गृहधूमदी

English Name: Grihdhumadi

Description:

Grihadhoomadi Lepa is a traditional Ayurvedic formulation known for its effectiveness in treating joint-related ailments, particularly Vatarakta, commonly referred to as gout. This condition occurs due to the aggravation of Vata dosha and the accumulation of uric acid crystals in the joints, causing pain, swelling, and inflammation. The lepa is carefully formulated using a combination of potent herbal ingredients, each chosen for its specific therapeutic properties in alleviating joint discomfort and promoting healing.

The primary ingredients of Grihadhoomadi Lepa include Gruhadhooma (carbon soot from the kitchen chimney), which has been traditionally used for its detoxifying and anti-inflammatory effects. Vacha (Acorus calamus) is known for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve pain. Kushta (Saussurea lappa) is another powerful anti-inflammatory herb that aids in reducing joint discomfort. Shatahwa (Anethum sowa) acts as a natural anti-inflammatory agent, effectively helping to reduce swelling. Haridra (Curcuma longa), commonly known as turmeric, possesses strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Daruharidra (Berberis aristata) is also included for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory benefits.

To prepare the lepa, these ingredients are finely powdered and stored in an airtight container to preserve their potency. When needed, a portion of the powder is mixed with water or buttermilk to form a paste, which is then applied externally to the affected joints. Regular application of this lepa provides relief from pain, swelling, and stiffness. It is advisable to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner before use to ensure its suitability for individual health conditions.
