Sanskrit Name: मलः
Waste materials generated during different phases of digestion and metabolism are essential components of the human body, alongside dosha (regulatory functional factors) and basic structural elements. These waste materials can be divided into two categories: those resulting from food digestion and those arising from the transformation of structural components. Waste from food digestion includes urine and feces. Waste from the transformation of structural components consists of phlegm (the excretory form of kapha) derived from the primary digestive product (the main circulating nutrient fluid), bile (the excretory form of pitta) sourced from blood, nasal mucus and earwax from muscle, sweat from fat, nails and hair from bone, and rheum from the eye originating from bone marrow.
