Sanskrit Name: प्रकृतिḥ

An individual’s innate nature is the unique phenotype shaped by their physical, psychological, physiological, and behavioral characteristics, independent of social, ethnic, and geographical influences. It reflects a person’s optimal state of functioning for both body and mind. The primary manifestation of this inherent nature in bodily functions is referred to as body constitution, characterized by a dominant dosha (doshaprakṛti). Its representation in mental and physical personality is termed kaya/manasaprakriti. However, for practical interpretation, an individual’s doshaprakriti and kaya should be assessed in relation to factors such as ethnicity (jaati), familial inheritance, genetics (kula), the impact of a particular geographical area and climate (desha), and the aging process (kala).
