Sanskrit Name:Shikakai

Devanagari Name:शिकाकाई

English Name: Shikakai Powder

Description:

Shikakai is a climbing shrub commonly found in the forests of India, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia, growing in dry, deciduous areas. The plant produces pod-like fruits containing small, brown seeds, which are used for their natural cleansing and shampooing properties. Shikakai is known for its mildly acidic, antifungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.

It is primarily used in hair care, as it helps cleanse the scalp, reduce dandruff, and stimulate hair growth by improving blood circulation in the scalp. Shikakai is a natural alternative to chemical shampoos, providing softness, shine, and volume to hair. It also has a mild detergent effect, making it useful in treating skin infections, eczema, and rashes, as it promotes gentle cleansing without stripping the skin of its natural oils.

The herb is used to treat digestive issues like constipation and bloating due to its ability to promote digestion and support gut health. Shikakai helps balance Vata and Kapha doshas and is widely used in hair and skin care products due to its gentle, nourishing properties.
