Description:
Kushta (Saussurea lappa) is a robust perennial herb that grows as a shrub, reaching heights of 3 to 4 feet. Its outer bark exhibits a yellowish-brown to grayish-brown hue, characterized by rough longitudinal grooves and fine net-like wrinkles, along with branching roots. The roots are thick and cylindrical, measuring between 5 to 20 cm in length and 1 to 6 cm in diameter, with some displaying a slight curve and occasional longitudinal splits. The plant also produces purple flowers.
