Description:

Maricha is a robust climbing plant that can reach heights exceeding 10 meters. Its stems feature knots from which leaves, adventitious roots, and fruits develop. The leaves are almond-shaped, with a leathery texture, measuring between 6 to 10 cm in length, and are arranged alternately along the stem. The upper surface of the leaves is a glossy dark green, while the underside appears pale green. The flowers are whitish or yellowish-green and are found in clusters along the stalk.

Benefits:

Maricha (Piper nigrum), or black pepper, is a powerful digestive and stimulant spice in Ayurveda. It enhances Agni (digestive fire), clears Ama (toxins), and supports respiratory health. Maricha is also used to enhance the bioavailability of other herbs. It pacifies Kapha and Vata and is widely used in formulations like Trikatu.
