Muchkund, scientifically known as Pterospermum acerifolium, is an evergreen tree that belongs to the Sterculiaceae family. Commonly referred to as the Bayur tree, Maple Leaved Bayur tree, or Dinner Plate Tree, it is recognized by various names across different languages: Muchakuna in Hindi, Lolugu in Telugu, Muchakund Chompa in Bengali, and Chitraka, Kshatra Vruksha, Prativishnuka, and Lakshmanaka in Sanskrit, among others. The tree produces flowers from March to July, and its fruits mature approximately one year after the flowering period.
