Description:

Abrus precatorius, commonly referred to as Rosary pea, Crab’s eye, and Gunja in Hindi, is a slender climbing herb characterized by its striking bright red seeds. This plant typically grows over shrubs, trees, and hedges. It is recognized as one of the most toxic herbal plants due to the presence of Abrin toxins found in its seeds.

Gunja typically manifests in two varieties: one featuring red seeds and the other with white seeds.

Purified preparations of Gunja are effective in alleviating painful arthritis and addressing hair loss. Additionally, it is regarded as a powerful aphrodisiac.

Benefits:

Rosary Pea (Abrus precatorius), or Gunja, is used in Ayurveda in very small purified doses for its aphrodisiac and stimulant effects. It is also used externally in skin treatments. Due to its toxicity, it requires proper processing and supervision.
