Ayurvedic Name: Firang

Description:

Gonorrhea in hindi is refered as Firang Rog, another sexually transmitted infection. It affects the urinary and reproductive systems, which leads to burning sensations and discharge. Ayurveda advocates astringent and cooling herbs like Chandana (sandalwood) and Gokshura to soothe inflammation.

Signs & Symptoms:

  • Firang (Foreign Fever or Malaria) involves Jwara (Fever) that is intermittent, often associated with chills and sweating.
  • In severe cases, Shotha (Swelling) of the lymph nodes, liver, and spleen may occur, and there is often Kandu (Itching), especially during the fever phase.
  • Dourbalya (Weakness) and fatigue are prominent during recovery, and Agnimandya (Poor Digestion) may also present due to the body’s weakened state.

Diagnosis:

NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test)

Risk Factors:

  • Dietary Factors: Eating excessively rich or processed foods can lead to Firang (foreign) disease, which refers to ailments caused by foreign elements or microbes entering the body. Consuming food that has been contaminated or improperly prepared can lead to digestive and systemic issues.
  • Lifestyle Factors: Lack of proper hygiene, exposure to contaminated water or food, and a weakened immune system can increase susceptibility to infections, leading to Firang. Stress and poor lifestyle choices can further weaken immunity.

Complications:

  • Foreign Infections (Firang): Diseases or infections caused by external elements or foreign pathogens entering the body.
  • Food Poisoning (Amlapitta): Stomach upset and nausea due to ingestion of contaminated or spoiled food.
  • Digestive Discomfort (Antrakshaya): Abdominal pain and discomfort due to digestive imbalances.

Epidemeology:

Firang (Foreign Infections) refers to diseases caused by pathogens from outside the body. It is prevalent in regions with poor sanitation, overcrowding, and lack of access to clean water. Travelers are also at risk of contracting diseases like food poisoning and malaria.
