Description:

This plant is a perennial aromatic creeper that produces a milky sap. Its stems are elongated, twining, twisted, sturdy, and brown in color. The leaves are numerous, small, and oval-shaped. The plant features white flowers that range from 1 to 4 inches in length, with 3 to 4 branches. Its fruits are round and contain glossy seeds that are about 2 inches long. The roots are thick, branched, and black, being long, slender, and fleshy. This plant blooms and bears fruit from March to December. In Ayurveda, Trivrit is recognized as a highly beneficial herb. It is rich in purgative properties, aiding in the elimination of toxins from the body. Additionally, it possesses antipyretic and anti-inflammatory qualities, making it effective for liver disorders and promoting stomach health. This herb is also helpful in addressing issues such as flatulence, constipation, hemorrhoids, and irregular bowel movements.

Benefits:

Trivrit (Operculina turpethum) is a strong purgative herb used in Panchakarma detox therapies. It clears excessive Pitta and Kapha, promotes bowel movement, and removes Ama (toxins). It is used under guidance due to its potency.
