Lamium is a herbaceous plant that can be either annual or perennial, belonging to the Lamiaceae family. The genus Lamium includes approximately 40 species, primarily found in the temperate and subtropical regions of Europe, Africa, and Asia. Commonly referred to as “dead nettle,” Lamium resembles stinging nettles but does not emit any harmful chemicals. Traditionally, it has been utilized in folk medicine for its various health benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-proliferative, astringent, and antispasmodic properties. Additionally, it is believed to help with conditions such as constipation, hypertension, paralysis, rheumatism, leucorrhea, uterine hemorrhage, and trauma.

Benefits:

Lamium (Lamium album), or white dead-nettle, is used in herbal traditions for treating respiratory and menstrual issues. Though not native to Ayurveda, it aligns with Ayurvedic cooling and demulcent actions. It soothes mucous membranes, supports uterine health, and aids in detoxifying the system.

Lamium is beneficial for treating respiratory issues such as cough, cold, and asthma. It is also used for its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.

Medical Conditions(Avoid):

Lamium should be avoided by pregnant women and individuals with sensitive skin.
