Ayurvedic Name: Sheetpitta
Description:
Sheetpitta is allergic rashes or urticaria, resulting from an imbalance in Pitta and Kapha. Ayurveda suggests cooling treatments, detoxification, and avoiding trigger foods.
Signs & Symptoms:
- Sheetpitta is marked by Bida (Abdominal Distension), which occurs due to the accumulation of Vata dosha in the abdominal area, leading to bloating and a feeling of fullness.
- There is also Shool (Pain) or cramping in the abdomen, along with Agnimandya (Poor Digestion), where the digestive fire is weak, leading to improper digestion.
- The condition is further characterized by Trishna (Excessive Thirst) due to the body’s attempt to balance the internal disturbances.
- Rukshata (Dryness) may also be observed in the mouth and throat, due to dehydration caused by digestive imbalances.
Diagnosis:
Skin Prick Test
Risk Factors:
- Dietary Factors: Excessive consumption of oily, greasy, or spicy foods can increase the risk of Sheetpitta (painful, burning sensation in the body). A diet that promotes inflammation, such as one high in sugar or alcohol, can exacerbate the condition.
- Lifestyle Factors: High stress levels, lack of physical activity, and excessive mental exertion can increase the likelihood of developing Sheetpitta. Poor sleep and irregular eating habits can also disrupt the body’s balance, leading to pain and discomfort.
Complications:
- Burning Sensation (Daah): Feeling of heat or discomfort in the body, often due to excessive acidity or internal heat buildup.
- Stomach Ulcers (Amla Pitta): Development of sores or ulcers in the stomach lining due to acid imbalance.
- Digestion Issues (Agni Mandya): Weak digestion causing bloating and discomfort.
Epidemeology:
Daah (Burning Sensation) is often caused by acid reflux, gastritis, or high acidity in the stomach. It is more prevalent in individuals with a poor diet, excessive alcohol consumption, or stress-related digestive issues.
