Description:

Ribes nigrum, commonly referred to as black currant, is a well-known perennial shrub that produces fruit. This plant is native to the temperate areas of Eurasia and northern Asia and has been cultivated for over 400 years, although it was only documented by herbalists in the 17th century. Black currant is one of the most widely consumed fruits globally, enjoyed in various forms including jams, juices, squashes, syrups, and fresh. Additionally, it has a significant history in Chinese traditional medicine.

Benefits:

Ribes Nigrum, or blackcurrant, is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. Though not traditional to Ayurveda, it is beneficial for immunity, joint health, and skin nourishment. Its cooling nature can be used to soothe Pitta conditions and support detoxification.
