Description:

Shyonak (Oroxylum indicum) is a small perennial tree that typically reaches heights of 8 to 15 meters and is primarily found in evergreen forests. Its leaves can measure between 0.5 to 1.5 meters in length and are characterized by a 2-3 pinnate arrangement with opposite pinnae. Each leaf consists of 2-4 pairs of leaflets that range from 6 to 12 cm long and 4 to 10 cm wide, exhibiting an ovate or elliptic shape with an acuminate tip, and are glabrous. The petioles of the lateral leaflets measure 6 to 15 mm in length. The tree produces numerous flowers that display reddish-purple and pinkish-yellow hues, each measuring approximately 0.3 to 0.6 meters long, with flower stalks extending about one foot in length.
