Description:

Crinum is a genus that includes approximately 180 species of stunning perennial plants. These plants are popular for decorative purposes, suitable for gardens and bouquets, and are commonly referred to by names such as Spider Lily, Trumpet Lily, and Swamp Lily. Crinum primarily thrives in tropical regions, including Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, the Pacific Islands, and extends to the Caribbean, Florida, and Louisiana. In Ayurveda, Crinum latifolium is known as “Sudarshana” or Sukhdarshan, signifying that its mere presence brings peace and happiness. Ayurvedic texts, which trace back to 5000 BC, mention Crinum defixum (Kandali), highlighting its applications in treating painful swellings, unexplained fevers, poisoning, and skin conditions.

Benefits:

Sudarshana (a classical formulation) typically includes herbs like Kiratatikta and is used for fever, liver disorders, and detoxification. It balances Pitta and Kapha and is effective in treating seasonal fevers, skin problems, and digestive imbalances.
