Tulsi, scientifically known as Ocimum sanctum, is a highly revered aromatic herb native to India and widely cultivated across Southeast Asia. This small, bushy plant can grow up to 30–60 cm tall, with green or purple leaves that are oval-shaped and fragrant. It produces small, purple flowers and is often found in homes due to its religious significance and medicinal value. Tulsi is renowned for its adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory properties. It is widely used to boost immunity, combat respiratory issues (like asthma, bronchitis, and cough), and reduce stress by acting as a natural adaptogen. The herb is highly beneficial in treating digestive disorders such as gas, bloating, and indigestion due to its ability to improve digestive fire (Agni).
