Karanj is a rapidly growing medium-sized tree from the Fabaceae family. The tree is especially noted for its oil, which is referenced extensively in classical texts on traditional medicine, such as the Samhitas and Nighantus. Karanj exhibits various beneficial properties, including anti-hyperglycemic, anti-diarrheal, antiplasmodial, and analgesic effects. This deciduous tree typically reaches heights of 35 to 40 feet and features alternate leaves along with flowers that can be lavender, pink, or white.
