Description:

Karanj is a rapidly growing medium-sized tree from the Fabaceae family. It is recognized as a medicinal herb primarily utilized for treating skin conditions, with all parts of the tree—roots, flowers, leaves, and bark—having therapeutic applications. The tree is especially noted for its oil, which is referenced extensively in classical texts on traditional medicine, such as the Samhitas and Nighantus. Karanj exhibits various beneficial properties, including anti-hyperglycemic, anti-diarrheal, antiplasmodial, and analgesic effects. This deciduous tree typically reaches heights of 35 to 40 feet and features alternate leaves along with flowers that can be lavender, pink, or white. Flavonoids are the predominant chemical compounds found in this plant.

Benefits:

Karavira (Nerium indicum or Oleander) is a highly potent and toxic plant used cautiously in Ayurvedic formulations. When processed correctly, it is used in treating heart conditions, skin disorders, and pain. It stimulates the heart, promotes sweating, and detoxifies deep tissues. Due to its potency, it must only be used under strict supervision and proper purification protocols.
